This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of the STEM-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on students' learning motivation, (2) determine the differences in students' learning motivation based on gender, and (3) describe the implementation of the PjBL-STEM learning model on respiratory system material. This type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental method and a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were class VIII A students at SMP Ma'arif Bongas in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research instruments used included a learning motivation questionnaire, student learning motivation observation sheets, and PjBL-STEM model implementation observation sheets. Data analysis techniques included the N-Gain test, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test. The results of the study showed that (1) there was an influence of the PjBL-STEM learning model on students' learning motivation with an average N-Gain value of 0.353 (moderate category) and the results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, (2) there was no significant difference in learning motivation between male and female students after the PjBL-STEM model was implemented with a significance value of 0.822 and 0.826 > 0.05, and (3) the implementation of the PjBL-STEM learning model went very well with an average percentage of 94%, and most of the indicators of student learning motivation were in the high to very high category.
